We're looking for an "Activities Organiser"

The Aotea Family Support Group is looking for someone to organise activities for young people, as well as for adults, and be able to help out wherever else required. The most important role will be engaging with young people for a new weekly after school programme with year 7/8 school children and with year 9/10 correspondence school pupils respectively. Then there is the school holiday programme to plan, prepare and coordinate, the biannual family picnic, as well as parenting workshops, adult education workshops and other events as well as the administration, and health and safety around all that.

Your working hours will be 60h/month (on average), with apart from regular office hours Wednesday's 9-1, very variable work times including evenings and with occasional weekend work. Drivers licence, first aid certificate and computer skills required.

Applications close Friday 15 September noon.

Calling all youth: What is your dream?

Are you 15 to 24 and need a grant to fulfil a dream? -Youth Opportunity Grant 2017-

Our Youth Opportunity Grant makes it possible for successful applicants to realise an ambitious dream that otherwise lies just out of reach. Since the 21st anniversary of the Aotea Family Support Group in 2009 the grant has been awarded every two years by our trustees for inspiring proposals. Thanks to Les and Bev Blackwell, we receive annual donations from the makers of the ‘Les Blackwell’ hand cream, Matakana Botanicals owned by Danvers Deveraux, which along with generous gifts from others has made this grant possible. (If you also would like to help make difference in our community, come and talk to us about how to contribute.)

Past recipients have used grants of up to $2,000 e.g. to get trained up for crewing on superyachts as a step towards becoming a skipper, another to train for competitive surfing in Bali, and for one young person to travel with others to Vietnam and Cambodia with the World Challenge organisation.

à   So, what is your dream? Email for information. Written proposals must be received by the 7th of July.

Seniors Activities Programme 2017

Last year you kindly filled out a questionnaire regarding AFSG's Senior Activity program and this is the result of your wishes. Unfortunately, the trip to the UK that was requested by one of you is off the calendar this year.
For those of you that don't know about the Seniors Activity Group it is a group of seniors who meet monthly to visit different places on the Island for morning tea and a shared picnic lunch.
The group is hosted by John Garlick who kindly donates his time for this and he also drives the Southern van. Hope Munro will be driving the Northern van.
We would love to see you attend any/all of these events.
Each month on your meal invitation I will put a notification of that month's event. Just call the booking number, 962 to book your place.
